Modifications from Initial Design

Player Vs. Player

After construction of the first prototype, we realized the immense time and cost of constructing, assembling, and decorating another castle. Additionally the scarcity of the sensors we wanted also made it hard. To add insult to injury we would have to use two cortexes resulting in innumerable complications.

Catapult Holder

After settling on the one castle design, we removed the catapult holder as we could now just constrain the catapult’s movement with a rule.

Ball Counter

The balls did not weigh enough to trip the limit switch so we switched to the line followers which are much better at detecting the balls as they cross.

Ball Return System

As another consequence of deciding on the one castle design, we had to design a ball return system that would deliver the balls back to a player in front of the castle.

Point System

Due to the tendency of the balls to bounce into the 2nd wall when going for the king, we changed the rules for the outer wall to have a larger value than the 2nd wall. This incentivizes the player to change their focus away from the king as they would get more points.
